Nutrition Nibble: Gotta get some Goji Berries!

Have you ever heard of Goji berries? Are you lucky enough to have tasted them? They have been used in Asian medicine for over 5,000 years due to their powerhouse healing properties. Goji berries are packed with protein, essential amino acids, zinc, and beta-carotene. They also contain vitamin A, C, B2, and E. It is believed that Goji berries are similar to Lycium berry in that they are full of antioxidants. Two studies have shown that they have a significant effect on the immune system. Some research suggests that Goji berry extracts may boost brain health and may protect against age-related diseases such as Alzheimer’s. Goji berries go great in smoothies, on top of cereals and yogurt, and on salads.
