Smoothie of the Day: Ginger Orange Immunity-Boosting Smoothie

This is a delicious and simple smoothie to make. It’s a great way to keep your immune system strong, especially during a time where everybody is sick with the cold or flu! The orange gives this smoothie a nice boost of vitamin C.¬†Oranges contain limonoids which are phytochemicals that can have therapeutic effects such as antiviral, antifungal, antibacterial, antieoplastic, and antimalarial.¬†Ginger has been known to boost the immune system as an effective antimicrobial and antiviral agent. I use kefir with this smoothie to give it a nice dose of health-promoting probiotics (aka friendly bacteria). Give this smoothie a try today!

Ginger Orange Immunity-Boosting Smoothie

  • 1 orange, peeled
  • 3/4 in freshly grated ginger
  • 1 Tbsp. flax seed oil
  • 1 C plain kefir

Add all ingredients to your blender and process until smooth. Pour into a tall glass and serve. Enjoy!
