Authen-tip: Foods for Inflammation

If you are suffering from pain caused by inflammation, you should know that there are certain foods that can ease your discomfort. Be sure that you are eating primarily raw foods (salads, freshly-made juices, and smoothies) and drinking plenty of herbal teas. Eat foods that are high in flavonoids because these are powerful antioxidants and useful for the reduction of inflammation. The foods with the most flavonoids are beautifully rich in color, mainly deep purples, blues, and reds. Try snacking on organic blueberries, strawberries, and goji berries to get a healthy dose of flavonoids in your diet. Be sure you are including plenty of foods rich in omega-3 into your daily diet to help manage the inflammation. Such foods include chia seeds (I love the white seeds from Melissa’s Produce), flax seeds, walnuts, cabbage, cauliflower,  and wild-caught salmon. Some herbs and spices that have been shown to help inflammation include  cayenne, ginger, goldenseal, red clover, and yucca.
