I have always been a big fan of POM Wonderful and their delicious pomegranate juice. I recently tried the POM Mango flavor and was hooked! I especially love to use this juice as the base for my morning smoothies. Here is the recipe for the POM Mango Peach Smoothie,  pictured below:

  • 1 C POM Wonderful Mango juice
  • 1 peach, cut into pieces
  • 1 plum, cut into pieces
  • 1 handful of blueberries
  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds

Smoothie of the Day: Sesame and Apple Juice Banana Smoothie

Sesame seeds in a smoothie? Yes please! Did you know that sesame seeds are a good source of iron, vitamin B1, digestive-health-supporting dietary fiber, and sleep-promoting tryptophan? They are also rich in lignin phytonutrients, sesamin and sesamolin, which have been found to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Sesame and Apple Juice Banana Smoothie

  • 1 Tbsp sesame seeds (toasted lightly…if you like sesame seeds, I suggest toasting a big batch and storing them for later use)
  • 2 bananas, cut into chunks
  • 1/2 C fresh pineapple chunks
  • 1 1/2 C organic apple juice
  • 1 1/4 C almond or coconut milk

Add all ingredients to your blender and mix until smooth. Pour into a large glass. Serve and enjoy!

  • 1 C almond milk (or rice milk)
  • 1 C raw almonds, not skinned
  • 1/3 C honey

Vitamin C Pineapple Berry Booster

  • 1/2 pineapple
  • 1 handful cranberries
  • 1 C organic strawberries
  • 1 C pineapple juice
  • 1 C plain yogurt
Cut the pineapple into chunks and remove the stems on the strawberries. Add all ingredients to a blender and mix until smooth. Pour into a tall glass and enjoy!

Ever since the weather started to get nicer, I have been in a tropical foods mood! That’s why I love this smoothie and I know you will to. It’s loaded with nutrients to help boost our immunity in addition to giving us a nice lift of energy. The banana in this recipe is a good source of vitamin B6, vitamin C, potassium, and dietary fiber. The kiwifruit is also a great source of vitamin C and digestive-friendly fiber. I like to add a bit of flaxseed oil to the smoothie for some added essential fatty acids. Give this smoothie a try today!

  • 1 banana, peeled
  • 1 orange, peeled
  • 1 kiwifruit, peeled
