Hawaii. Taking a trip to that beautiful paradise sounds great right now, doesn’t it? We could beat these winter blues and hop on a plane to this warm and sunny state. But alas, a tropical vacation just isn’t on the agenda right now. Give your taste buds the amazing flavor of Hawaii with the macadamia nuts and Macadamia Crunch snacks from Royal Hawaiian Orchards! Trust me. One bite and your mouth will think you are on vacation!
The Royal Hawaiian company has been around for a long time! They were founded in 1948 with the belief in the importance of finding balance in this fast-paced world. They believe in the joyful sharing of life and aloha with your family and your community. How cool is that? This company also believes in being thoughtful about the food you put in your body and respecting the nature that provides it. I think that is something we should all focus on, don’t you?
The Royal Hawaiian Orchards macadamia nuts are sustainably-grown in Hilo, Hawaii and nurtured in the land rich with lava rock. The trees are watered with the tropical rains and absorb the minerals from the soil. This is what gives the macadamia nuts their unique flavor! When their trees are planted, it takes five years for the first macadamia nut to be harvested. It takes an additional 10 to 16 years for the trees to bear enough nuts for optimal production! During the harvest, the outer husk is removed from the nut. Did you know that is takes about 300 pounds per square inch of pressure to crack open the thick shell that covers the kernel? That’s a lot of pressure! The kernels then are roasted and ready for us to enjoy.
So, why should we eat macadamia nuts? They are rich in nutrients like fiber, calcium, iron, and magnesium. These nuts are also full of heart-healthy monounsaturated fat and palmitoleic acids. They contain small amounts of vitamin E and A, making them helpful for promoting health vision and skin. Last but not least, macadamia nuts are a good source of selenium to help improve the immune system.
I recently had the pleasure of trying out the delicious products from Royal Hawaiian Orchards. I love them! Their products are not only gluten-free and sulfite-free, they are non-GMO Project Verified. First off, let’s talk about their delicious macadamias. These tasty nuts come in resealable packages that you can easily take with you on-the-go. The nuts are seasoned with everything from sea salt and pepper to wasabi soy and Hawaiian BBQ. Yum! You can munch on these nuts as-is or add them to a variety of recipes! I actually used their Sea Salt and Cracked Pepper macadamia nuts in a salad. It was delicious!
I am also obsessed with the different Macadamia Crunch snacks that Royal Hawaiian has to offer. These little bite-sized squares are packed with delicious ingredients like almonds, mangoes, blueberries, and pomegranate seeds. They are sweet in flavor and make for a wonderful mid-day snack. My favorite flavor was the Mango Pineapple Macadamia Crunch. It has such a bright and cheery flavor! I added a few of these snacks to my morning bowl of oatmeal for some added crunch and taste.

Got a sweet tooth? Well listen up, honey! You are going to love this product review.
It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of honey. You have seen me post about the benefits of this sweet goodness while talking about the ways that we can incorporate it into our daily diets. Honey is an amazing energy-booster from nature. It’s packed with healing properties that not only lifts our spirits but helps to promote optimal wellness throughout our body. Honey has been shown to help boost immunity and can be used in a variety of home remedies for cold and flu season. It can be used to help relieve nasty hangovers and soothe the pain of a sore throat. It can also be used topically for natural beauty treatments. I actually make an amazing face mask with banana, honey, and mashed avocado. It leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean! This being said, not all honey is created equal and some are much better than others.
I recently had the pleasure of trying out the products from Sue Bee Honey. I know what you are probably thinking…honey is honey and it is all the same. Wrong! Sue Bee Honey is different. By adhering to strict certification guidelines, this honey does not contain any residues of pesticides or environmental pollutants. I added this honey to my morning bowl of oatmeal to give my breakfast a sweet and delicious flavor!
I also tried out the Sue Bee Clover Honey. All I can say is yum! This fancy white honey is amazing mixed in smoothies or drizzled over a bowl of Greek yogurt. I added it to my ginger tea along with a dash of cinnamon. Last but not least, I am obsessed with Aunt Sue’s Raw-Wild Natural Honey. This is 100 percent pure strained honey that is made here in the USA. How cool is that? We get to enjoy tasty honey and support bees right here in the USA! It has a robust flavor which makes it wonderful to use in a variety of recipes. Since it is raw honey, all of the beneficial pollen is still in it.

Even though I am not 100% vegetarian, I tend to primarily eat plant-based foods. This helps my energy levels, improves my digestion, and I really love the taste of fresh produce! I have always been a massive hamburger lover but the meat just doesn’t sit well in my stomach. That’s why I was so excited to discover Neat – A Healthy Replacement for Meat. Not only is Neat soy-free, gluten-free and 100% vegetarian, it tastes great! A lot of meat replacements out there can have a dry and earthy taste to them. Neat was very moist and flavorful. I made Mexican Endive Boats with my Neat (pictured above) and they were delicious!
There are a variety of Neat products to choose from including the Italian Mix, Breakfast Mix, and Original Mix. You can include Neat in a bunch of different recipes which makes it so easy to include in your diet. What’s in Neat? Not much and that’s why I love it…it has a handful of authentically nourishing ingredients. For example, the Italian Mix only has pecans, garbanzo beans, gluten-free whole grain oats, sea salt, and spices. That’s it!

Tasty AND Healthy? Foods that are surprisingly good for you
When it comes to healthy food, most people think of fruits and vegetables. This isn’t wrong, of course, but the list of things you can eat when you’re trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle goes beyond greens. Some of these may even surprise you, as the list below will show:
1. Coffee’s use is seen as a morning pick-up and nothing more. In fact, many people avoid having coffee altogether because of concerns about the health properties of caffeine. It’s not all bad, though. You may not know that it also stimulates the nervous system, lowers the risk of Parkinson’s and diabetes, alleviates headaches and moodiness, and even helps prevent cavities.
2. Everybody’s favorite guilty pleasure, chocolate, also provides health benefits. To be more specific, dark chocolate is what you should go for, as it’s purer than the more common milk chocolate. Researchers have found out that dark chocolate improves blood sugar and insulin sensitivity, which is good news for those prone to diabetes. It also helps increase blood vessel flow, and carries a lot of antioxidants, which greatly alleviate high blood pressure. They also make great snack substitutes, whenever you get a craving for some M&M’s, provided you only take appropriately small servings.
3. Lastly, sipping a little wine each day can also help stave off some health issues. Studies reveal that the alcohol component of wine can help increase “good” HDL cholesterol while at the same time lowering “bad” cholesterol. A British study also reports that wine lessens the risk of contracting the Helicobacter pylori bacteria by 11%, reducing the risk of ulcer, gastritis, and stomach cancer. Sparkling wine, specifically, has antioxidants called polyphenols that reduces the damage of free radicals to the body. And like the more popular red wine, it also helps lower blood pressure and prevents heart problems. Though it may not be as conventional as its crimson counterpart, choosing a bottle of sparkling wine isn’t as difficult as pronouncing “Cabernet Sauvignon”. With customer review threads posted on every variant, Marks & Spencer provides useful advice on which wines to choose and the pros and cons of each.
Needless to say, the best way to go about things is with moderation. Too much of coffee, chocolate and wine will still be bad for you in the long run but as long as you take each in appropriate amounts, you can enjoy the benefits without having to worry about the negative factors.
